The California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) is the only organization advocating for podiatric physicians and their patients in California.
As the voice of podiatric medicine in California, CPMA is behind every pro podiatric medicine bill that has become state law! Just as important is that the Association’s legislative advocacy team also works to defeat bills that would harm patients and undermine podiatric physicians’ authority in providing necessary and appropriate care.
CPMA places a high priority on protecting the patient-physician relationship, removing unnecessary administrative burdens and obstacles to practicing medicine, and ensuring that podiatric physicians are paid fairly and promptly for providing care.
Critical issues affecting today’s podiatric physicians and their patients are being decided in the legislative arena at a fast and furious pace. Health care reform, medical liability, and scope of practice are just a few of the vital issues being debated and voted on by elected officials in Sacramento.
The California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) has a dedicated advocacy team of professionals committed to advancing the cause of podiatric physicians and their patients. BUT, the most powerful weapon in our arsenal is YOU!
Today's health care system is badly broken and in serious need of repair. Unfortunately, you cannot fix it or protect your practice by working more hours and taking care of more patients. The only way for you to effect "real change" is through the legislative process.
Here are three easy things you can do to protect your patients and practice starting today - right at your desk.
- Get to Know Your Legislators. When medicine speaks, legislators do listen, especially if they've heard from you before. There is no substitute for this personal relationship!
- Respond to CPMA Action Alerts. Some bills will be particularly crucial to CPMA, and we request your assistance in either supporting or opposing those bills.
- Make a Contribution to CalPPAC. The California Podiatric Medical Association Political Action Committee (CalPPAC) is the political arm of CPMA. CalPPAC donates to political campaigns – CPMA cannot. Thus, CalPPAC provides access for CPMA to tell our story. And, podiatric medicine has a GREAT story to tell.
